Any other overcomers out there? You probably are, but if you’re like me, you’ve never really thought of yourself as such; you just do what needs doing to get the job done and done right. More on all that in the “About” section below.
In the meantime, fast forwarding to like, now; as a Voice Actor I work out of a broadcast quality home studio, bringing to my working partners a quality read that generally exceeds their expectations. Part of the reason behind this is that I am a stage performing ventriloquist. As such I use a range of voices, emotions, and personalities to meet the changing needs of the voice over industry.
In a nutshell, I guess you could say I bring to the party old school values along with cutting edge results. In the service industry most of my life, I take direction well and as a ventriloquist I get into character quickly with a realness that puts life into a script. I am at home behind a mic whether I’m in my own studio or on location. I can put an undercurrent of energy behind a calm, smooth narration, be over the top in an ‘in your face’ commercial, competent and knowledgeable in a business presentation, and bring a character to life in an animation.

About
Ok, where were we; oh yeah, . . . doing it right. Me, I was born surrounded by doctors ready to replace all my blood, was determined to be mentally challenged to some degree, and deemed likely never to walk. I kept all my blood, the verdict is still out on the whole mentally challenged thing, and I grew up running everywhere.

Ever hear of Elhers Danlos Syndrome - not fun. Imagine your Dad is the little league baseball coach, but you can't play because if you threw a ball in from the outfield, you would throw your arm right out of the socket. Been there, done that. I hated feeling like a wuss so l ran, worked out, threw away notes from home excusing me from gym class, danced, got into fights, and into tennis, volleyball, and yoga.

The result was that out of high school I joined the Army serving with the 25th Infantry. From the military I went on to college majoring in Business Management with a Public Speaking minor and was then immediately recruited as the Assistant Director of Environmental Services for a large hospital system. During college I taught myself ventriloquism and traveled with a number of teams from Florida to Pennsylvania as well as out of the country later on. I also started, ran, and sold my first cleaning company. Years later when I was caught up in a major downsizing, I started and ran another cleaning company for about 30 years. I continued performing as a ventriloquist and soon discovered the world of voice over. It quickly became a passion leading to training with the Global Voice Acting Academy and building a broadcast quality recording studio in my home. While honing my skills I took over the facilities management department of a K2 thu 12 private school until going part time to devote full time to the voice over industry.

I have always been very detail oriented and love the fact that it is my job to make someone else look good and yes, I am very good at it. That journey has led to Script To Life VoiceOvers.

PS: As a young adult while home visiting, I was invited to play ball on my Dad’s church team. He pitched and I played first base.
Together we executed a beautiful double play.
